What Price Glory? (1952): This badly dated film lulls the viewer into an expectation that it is asking a question that has long been answered. (Glory is two-oh-nine. Freedom is a buck ninety-five.) As the plot unfolds, however, the audience is shocked to learn that Glory is a young woman (Goldie Hawn in her debut performance). Less shocking is her price. The bleach job was a dead giveaway. Recommended only for those with nothing else on earth to do. For those, it's a passable ninety minutes.

What Price Glory? (1952): Laura dreams of being a Hollywood actress but discovers too late the price of stardom.

What Price Glory? (1952): Following Hollywood's success in producing morale-boosting World War II films, this film follows the heroic exploits of a group of US soldiers during the Korean War. Production values are sadly low: sets are minimal and the lack of available Oriental actors means that the Koreans and Chinese are played by white actors in dark makeup.

(1952): The president of a respectable swizzle stick firm decides one day to put a pair of Dr. Dentons on upside down (so that his head sticks out the flap) to shuttle around the northeast corridor organizing kickball tournaments. What Price Glory? (1952): In 1917 France Captain Flagg and Sergeant Quirt spar for the same girl. Stagey remake of the celebrated silent film and play; watchable if not exactly inspired.

What Price Glory? (1952): Bantamweight boxer Johnny "Junebug" Jerome risks everything - his life, his job and his family - to pursue his dream of becoming a champion boxer but discovers that the boxing business can be even rougher outside the ring. When he refuses to throw a fight his kid brother is killed and his wife put in hospital by the gangsters who run the game, but Junebug vows to beat the villains and win the champion's belt.
