Broadway Melody of 1936 (1935): A young girl from Peoria comes to New York in search of fame and fortune but as per usual finds it hard going. Desperate for work, she disguises herself as a man to get a job as a bellhop in a posh hotel, only to discover that an important Broadway producer is staying there. All sorts of wacky hijinks ensue as she attempts to be "discovered" as a starlet without losing her job as a "man". Romance and theatrical success reign in the end. |
