Thump (1998): This documentary charts the rise of Drum & Bass music in the pulsing dance clubs of Detroit. The rhythms of the music are laid over footage of automotive assembly lines, suggesting that the DJ's turntables are like the wheels of a car, alcohol is like gasoline, lighters are like spark plugs, cigarettes are like exhaust pipes, and exhausted dancers are "tired." Whether a dance club is, in fact, anything like an automotive plant, the film offers exciting glimpses into Motor City nightlife and evening shifts.

Thump (1998): After taking a "thump" to the head from a foul ball at the baseball game, Greg's behavior changes from a macho beer-swilling jerk to that of a sensitive, poetry-reading wimp. His friends are dismayed but his girlfriend loves the new Greg. Will he stay the way he is to keep his girl, or will his friends thump some sense back into him?
