Given their prominence in Medieval Europe, it
comes as no surprise that some unicorns speak
impeccable Latin:
"In truth," the telepathic beast answers in
precise Latin and with a human timbre, more
clearly than its voice has ever sounded before.
"I am transfigured!" (A. A. Attanasio, The
Dragon and the Unicorn, 1996)
One colorful report describes a unicorn speaking an
Esperantoesque mélange of languages:
The white unicorn snorted and tossed his
head again. In a language that sounded like
a mixture of Spanish and Italian with a touch
of Dutch, he spoke, "I do not like to be kept
waiting. There are better things I could be
doing" (Tassana Burrfoot, "The Time of
Change," 2006).
