Here's a nearly-lost gardening tip: never plant any test seeds within cryptozoological migration paths.  As Edith Sitwell put it, "And the gardener plants his seedsman's samples / Where no unicorn-herd tramples" ("Green Geese," in the poetry magazine Wheels, 1921).
