[Inexplicable images from generations ago invite us to restore the lost
sense of immediacy. We follow the founder of the Theater of
Spontaneity, Jacob Moreno, who proposed stringing together "now and then
flashes" to unfetter illusion and let imagination run free. The images
we have collected for this series came at a tremendous price, which we explained previously.] |

A Jingle of the Toboggan
A snowball exceedingly pale
And an icicle went by stealth
One night together
In midwinter weather
Tobogganing for their health
Like the rush of the wind they flew
Down the steep and icy slide
Tho' they lost their breath
And were frightened to death
"Let's try it again" they cried
So up the hill they climbed
And swiftly back they sped
They were greatly delighted
And grew so excited
The snowball's face was red
The man in the moon looked down
And said with a jovial smile
"Mr. Icicle if
You are growing stiff
You'd better leave off for a while!"
The icicle coldly laughed
But just at the break of day
He broke his neck
In a terrible wreck
And the snowball fainted away.
From Youth's Companion, 1888.
