"Scandalwood" is a very rare word outside of
perfume names. We learn that it must not be confused with deadly gossip-weed (Wisperia Scandalosa), in
Pearson's Magazine, 1909, and that it is poisonous (
Cupid's Almanac and Guide to Hearticulture, 1908).
"When every log of scandalwood had blood on it." From the Bombay Sunday Chronicle, 1953.
